"Formosa" means "beautiful island" and is the former name of Taiwan, the hometown of pastry chef Hamlet Chang. Hamlet is a Jayhawk alumni. After graduation from University of Kansas, Hamlet went back to Taiwan and was trained to be a pastry chef in one of the best Asian bakeries in Kaohsiung. In 2013, Hamlet brought his passion in baking business and his skills in Asian-style pastries back to the United States and opened his first bakery, Formosa Bakery, in Lawrence, KS.
We believe that high quality doesn't have to come with high price tag and we want to share our passion with as many people as possible! All our baked goods are made in small batches daily with ingredients of highest quality. In addition, our recipe highlights the natural flavor and uses reduced sugar and fat.
