Does a Cat's Love Its Owner? See These Telltale Signs

Cats may be mistreated. The saying isn't "Cats are man's best friend." The numerous memes and 'grumpy cat' videos add to the idea that cats mostly accept humans.

Professors Kristyn Vitale and Monique Udell from Oregon State University's Human-Animal Interaction Lab assessed 100 cats to establish their relationship to people, which goes beyond feeding and waste disposal.

Vitale found that cats spend more time with attentive humans and that 50% of them favored human contact above their favorite food, fragrance, and toys. These kitties appear to adore their owners!

Posluns adds that cats' tail movements, postures, purrs, and other sounds reveal their feelings. "Cats use many vocalizations when excited and may greet people with trills and chirrups, which indicate positive feelings," Posluns explains.
